MARAND PRECISION ENGINEERING CHOSEN AS CASE STUDY TO LAUNCH NEW $21M DEFENCE INDUSTRY INNOVATION CENTRE

The Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, Senator Kim Carr, and the Minister for Defence Personnel, Materiel and Science, Mr Greg Combet, have announced the launch of the $21.2 million Defence Industry Innovation Centre. The new Enterprise Connect Defence Industry Innovation Centre, based in Dandenong, Victoria, but with national reach, will support businesses in the defence sector to respond to the unique challenges they face, including the very high demand for technological innovation.

FR-1 PROTOTYPE RELIES ON MARAND
February 2009
Melbourne’s Motor Show was the launch pad for the FR-1 concept vehicle, which is being constructed in Melbourne to showcase the talents of Australia’s manufacturing industry. To this end Marand Precision Engineering was asked to construct the prototype chassis, the floor pan and other aluminium mounting blocks for the display held at the 2009 Melbourne Motor Show.

Australian Engineering Company Develops New Solutions for Global Boeing 787 Aerospace Component Production
24th April 2006
Marand Precision Engineering today announced that it had been contracted by Hawker de Havilland to Design and Manufacture the Automated Production System for detail manufacture of the component parts within the Boeing 787 Moveable Trailing Edge assembly.
The contract covers the provision of robots, bond shop tooling, thermal ovens, ultrasonic ply cutters, laser projection and a resin infusion system.

Australian Company Helps Achieve Critical JSF Milestone
8th February 2006
On January 20 2006, Pratt & Whitneys F-135 engine was successfully installed into the first test F-35 Joint Strike Fighter aircraft at the Lockheed Martin Fort Worth manufacturing facility, with the aid of an Engine Removal and installation Trailer, a complex piece of support equipment designed and manufactured in Australia by Marand Precision Engineering.
Lockheed Martin and Pratt & Whitney maintain that this event, achieved on time and on budget, represents a critical milestone in the JSF Program toward the first F-35 flight in the fall of 2006.
